Canary Islands HolidaysThe Canary Islands archipelago (group of islands) consists of seven islands (of which five offer Canary Islands Holidays options) situated in the Atlantic Ocean. Although owned by Spain, the islands are actually located more closely to Africa than to the Spanish mainland.

Over 11 million people choose to holiday in the Canary Islands annually with the majority of visitors arriving in December. The islands sub-tropical climate result in perfect weather for holidays at any time of the year with temperatures rarely falling below 18C in winter and rarely climbing above 24C in summer.

The islands themselves were formed as a result of volcanic activity thousands of years ago in fact one of the islands, Lanzarote, has been likened to “being on another planet” as a result of the scarring from over 300 volcanoes.

Each of the five Canary Islands offers a variety of activities for Canary Islands holidays. Some islands feature some of Europe’s best beaches whilst others are better suited to walking holidays and outdoor activities.

Tenerife is the largest island of the Canary Islands. With large cities, wonderful beaches and a mountain range, the island has something to offer everyone.

Lanzarote has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO and offers a unique landscape.
